High School > Hazing

THE PROBLEM
Hazing is group behavior that is designed to promote camaraderie and group loyalty through shared suffering.  However, this behavior often times has the opposite effect and can potentially lead to serious physical and mental damage or even death.  Hazing is most often associated with athletic teams or fraternal organizations, yet, hazing can surface wherever group dynamics are evident.

’s SOLUTION
Hazing is defined as:

“Any action taken or situation created as part of initiation to or continued membership in an organization, which humiliates, degrades or risks emotional and/or physical harm, regardless of the person's willingness to participate.”

In order to combat hazing a cultural shift needs to take place in the offending group or culture.  This program is intended to do just that.   The American Athletic Institute’s Hazing program is designed to address the motive, dangers and resolutions to hazing.
