High School > Youth Sport

THE PROBLEM
25,000,000 children are involved in organized youth sports in the United States.  Only 7,000,000 high school students participate in sports.  How do we lose 18,000,000 kids?
All one has to do is turn on the news or open up a newspaper to realize the vast number of problems involved in youth sport.  Violence, pressure, over bearing parents, coaches that ask to much or ask the wrong thing,… the list could fill up pages.  66% of kids do not benefit from the positive benefits of organized sport, why?  What goes wrong?

’s SOLUTION
The American Athletic Institute can help you examine whether your programs are healthy, positive and advantageous for the children that they are designed to serve and help.  AAI will ask the tough questions and help your organization find the answers.   We remind parents what youth sports are supposed to be about and how they, the sport and parent, can best help there child not only on the field but off as well.  We will help your organization establish age specific priorities to maintain a healthy balance between competition, enjoyment and the positive physical benefits of sport.

  • Are adult concepts of sport replacing a child’s concept of play
  • Are children being ordered to grow up too fast by adults (and  coaches)? Look at today’s youth and the dilemmas they face.
  • Over coaching is rampant and creativity is stifled
  • Is it far more essential to modify sports to suit the motivations and developmental levels that suit young children?
  • The free play experience is denied controlled
